The Mets are in hot pursuit of a pitcher…either Johan Santana or Dontrelle Willis. Apparently, D-train was a throw in to the Tigers, who may be planning on trading the pitcher to replenish their farm system.
The Yankees were rumored to be listening to the SF Giants about Hideki Matsui for some pitching. Probably, the most consistent outfielder they have, Matsui (and his full no trade clause) should and will be staying in the Bronx. The Yankees do need another starter, with only Pettitte and Mussina as their veterans and Moose was a non-factor down the stretch. Cashman always comes through with something and will need to pull the rabbit out of the hat this year.
