In a sudden move, Atlanta Falcons head coach Bobby Petrino left the team for the head coaching position at the University of Arkansas. The move was criticized by most but Petrino was lured from Louisville to coach Michael Vick and the Falcons. Little did most know, the star quarterback was about to leave the team after federal investigators took down his dog fighting operation. The 3-10 Falcons have had a rough year and maybe Petrino was under fire internally and jumped the gun back to college.
We will never know and so begins the Emmitt Thomas era. Thomas has been an assistant with the Falcons since 2002 and has 28 years coaching experience. He also becomes the first black head coach for the Atlanta Falcons.
