NFL: To sit or not to sit

The usual question week 17 of the NFL season is whether to sit or not your regulars, the stars that got you there in an attempt to give them fresh legs for a post-season push.  One team that will not be resting on its heels is the New England Patriots.  In pursuit of the perfect season, the Patriots are trying to go 16-0 and become the second team in NFL history to finish the season undefeated.  The opponent is the New York Giants, who have nothing to play for and have top players banged up.

Do the Giants rest or play their stars?

Already missing Jeremy Shockey, the Giants can’t afford to lose any more players.  On the other hand, as the great Herman Edwards said…”You play to win the game!”  So, go for it Giants.  After all, the fans are not looking for anything other than a first round loss anyway.  A win against the Patriots and ruining another perfect season (the G-men did it to Elway and the Broncos in 1998) would be a season success.  Now get a coach that can show Eli how to be a QB.
