BCS: Kansas wins Orange Bowl

In the best bowl game of the season, Kansas Jayhawks proved that their season was not a fluke by beating the Virginia Tech Hokies 24-21 in the Orange Bowl.

From a 6-6 season last year, the Jayhawks set a team record for wins this season going 12-1 and winning its first ever BCS bowl game.  Averaging 44 points per game, the Kansas offense was stuffed by the Hokie defense.  The ‘Hawks used some creativity, including a fake punt, to get the victory.  It is the teams first major bowl game since they played in the 1969 Orange Bowl.

The Hokies finished the season 11-3 and lost their fourth straight BCS bowl game.  The team helped carry the torch for a school that was still suffering from the campus shootings the previous April.
