The Giants and Chargers continued their hot play by upsetting two top teams on Sunday and punched their tickets for their respective championship games.
The Giants went to Dallas and surprised the Cowboys for a 21-17 victory. Eli Manning (12/18; 163 yards; 2 TD) continued his impressive play without a mistake. The big drive came at the end of the first half. Dallas had the momentum with a Marion Barber touchdown run with under a minute left in the first half. Then, Eli led the Giants quickly down the field for a game-tying TD pass to Amani Toomer. There were no turnovers in the game until the Cowboys final play, when RW McQuarters picked off a Tony Romo pass in the end zone to seal the Giant victory.
The Chargers without LaDainian Tomlinson for most of the day but they were led by Phillip Rivers into the third quarter. Backups QB Billy Volek and RB Michael Turner took the lead and helped the Chargers upset the Indianapolis Colts 28-24 and a date with the undefeated New England Patriots. Volek sealed the victory with a one yard touchdown run. Peyton Manning threw for 402 yards and three touchdowns but also had two interceptions. The Chargers are riding an eight game winning streak but their top player are banged up. Tomlinson and Rivers are questionable and Antonio Gates played on a broken toe Sunday. Can the Bolts bring down the Patriots?
