Fred Couples and Greg Norman will replace Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player as captains of the Presidents Cup teams. They are the first captains to have competed in the event. The 2009 Presidents Cup will be held at Harding Park, a San Francisco public course.

Peter Forsberg signed a one-year, $5 million deal to return to the Colorado Avalanche. The deal is prorated so Forsberg will make about $1.1 million for the last six weeks of the season, plus playoffs.
