The Lakers acquired Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies, giving Kobe some scoring help and adding an all star to the lineup. To get Gasol, LA had to part ways with Kwame Brown. They also gave up two first round draft picks and Javaris Crittenton.

The New York Mets get their man, signing of Johan Santana to a six year $137.5 million contract. After this season and the $13.25 million salary, Santana’s deal is tops previous free agent pitcher deals of Barry Zito and Carlos Zambrano. Per year, Santana is set to make over $21 million per year.
