No, spygate probably motivated the Pats.  Bill Belichick jinxed the team. 
Famous for wearing the beat up dark grey cutoff sweatshirt game in and game out, Belichick donned a new looking red sweatshirt.  It was over from the start. 
Didn’t he know bulls are attracted to red?
