NHL: Zednik stable, awake

Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik is awake and stable in a Buffalo hospital after his carotid artery was sliced by teammate Olli Jokinen’s skate in yesterday’s game against Buffalo.  He lost five units of blood but doctors say that there will be no brain damage.

If you saw the video, it was a scary sight.  Zednik somehow skated to the bench holding his neck with a trail of blood behind him.  Play stopped and the Panthers trainer and teammate Jassen Cullimore rushed Zednik through the tunnel into an ambulance.
