MLB: Mets outfielder out after collision

The New York Mets lost their new right fielder for the foreseeable future as Ryan Church collided with teammate Marlon Anderson, who was playing first, chasing a fly ball in an exhibition with the Dodgers.

Church was helped off the field after sustaining a concussion in the collision and will not play until he is free of symptoms.  Anderson suffered a bruised sternum and is day-to-day.

This is the latest Mets’ injury.  First baseman Carlos Delgado had an MRI after feeling discomfort in his hip.  Other Mets feeling the aches of spring are Carlos Beltran, Damion Easley, Endy Chavez, Luis Castillo and Ben Johnson.

Some good news for the Mets came from Jonathan Niese.  The pitcher threw two shutout innings with thee strikeouts.
