The Red Sox locked up their 40-man roster, signing 18 players, including Johathan Papelbon, Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury and Jon Lester. All were key to the Sox World Series win.
Signing a one-year deal, Papelbon almost doubled his salary to $775,000. He made 37 of 40 saves last year with a 1.85 ERA and shut down the Rockies with three saves in the Series. Pedroia was the rookie of the year last season and Ellsbury and Lester were key contributors in the World Series. Clay Buchholz, who threw a no-hitter in just his second big league game, also signed a one-year deal.
