MLB: Sox stand united

Threatening to boycott the opening series in Japan, the Boston Red Sox start the season with a strong sense of unity.  The team banded together when they found out that the coaches and staff that would be going to the games in Japan would not be receiving fair compensation.  The team stood together and threatened to boycott the entire trip to Japan unless Major League Baseball step up.  Right before the last spring training game against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Sox were late taking the field as they negotiated on behalf of their coaches and staff.  In the end, MLB avoided what could have been a terrible way to start the season.  What’s also scary, the Red Sox start their season off to a great start as a true team.

  1. Winners win not because they are better but because they have there attention on winning it all, most others do not think and “know” it’s is possible to do so. Same with the individual players.

I am no longer amazed at how little major sports organizations know about what the single most important attribute necessary for winning. Whether you are an individual with a desire to produce as your childhood dreams once had you wollowing in joy or the organization wanting another ring or perhaps a first ring, if you don’t know the essential ingreediant it becomes luck. Nothing more, nothing less.

The center of MLB, the core, the board of directors, is also seeking a “ring”. What do you suppose that is?

They can not achieve it because they are indeed clueless as are the owners themselves. The current turmoil in baseball is a result of the ownership being far behind in its lunderstanding of what attracts an increase. An increase in, ticket sales, exciting races, a demand for more .

But alas, Baseball is even bigger than MLB. And therefore MLB could get far more than it is getting now.

Any team, any player can lead the lead.

  2. Well put. Baseball needs more old school owners like Steinbrenner and Larry Lucchino to battle it out on the field by investing in the team and players. They seem to make money hand over fist by putting out a great product on the field. To run a franchise by a profit margin does a disservice to the fans, city and ball club.
