MLB: Ouch: Tampa Bay pounds Yanks

The New York Yankees were beat bad by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 13-4 at the Stadium.

The Rays were in control as they nailed the coffin shut with a 7-run eighth inning on Shawn Riggans three-run double and Carlos Pena’s three-run home run.

Yankee bats continue to be quiet as they only managed six hits in the game.  The Yanks scored all their runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Hideki Matsui’s solo home run.

Ian Kennedy got the loss, giving up four hits, six runs on four walks and two strikeouts.  His ERA stands at 23.14.

Manager Joe Girardi must have sensed something as he missed the game due to an illness.
