Andy Pettitte heard cheers from the crowd at Yankee Stadium as he took the mound. The Rays greeted him with eight hits over five innings as they took the second straight from the Yankees 6-3.
The Yankees were on the board first after A-Rod doubled in the first inning, scoring Johnny Damon. It was all Rays after that as they scored two in the third, a three-run homer from Johnny Gomes in the fifth and a solo shot by Willy Aybar in the eighth. The Yanks got two back on a Posada single, scoring Bobby Abreu and A-Rod but it wasn’t enough.
