NFL: Steve “Air” McNair retires

How do you describe Steve McNair?  Winner.  A throwback player that sacrificed his body for the team.

McNair retired from the Baltimore Ravens, ending a stellar career.  He was a star coming out of college where he put up huge passing numbers.  He will be remembered for his toughness on the field.  It seemed that he was always hurt but managed to get his team a W…like in 2002 when he couldn’t practice during the week but led his team to the AFC Championship game. It is unfortuate that such a great leader fell a half a yard short of Super Bowl greatness in 2000.

He was traded to the Ravens and immediately made an impact.  He played in 16 games and led the team to a franchise best 13-3 record.  In 2007, he suffered a groin injury in the first game and never recovered.  He underwent shoulder surgery in December and worked all winter to play this season.
