With both New York teams having a tough go at it in the 2008 season, the Mets pounded the Yankees in an inter-league series this weekend. Friday’s game was rained out and the Mets took the next two – 7-4 and 11-2. On Sunday, the umps even took a Carlos Delgado three-run home run away. The umps initially ruled the play correct but after a conferece overturned the home run. Later, they all agreed they were wrong.
The Mets now stand at 22-19 and are one game back of East-leading Florida. The Yankees, on the other hand, are in the basement of the East at 20-24, six back of first-place Boston. Ouch!
