NHL: Penguins in Stanley Cup finals

It’s too bad the NHL playoffs can’t get a better TV deal to help attract a bigger audience.

The playoffs are exciting and captivating.  The Pittsburgh Penguins, a team that almost wasn’t, is waiting on the winner of the Red Wings/Stars series to go for the Stanley Cup.  The Penguins spent years fighting off bankruptcy, a poor stadium and potential buyouts that would have sent the team elsewhere.  But, Mario Lemieux helped right the ship that he helped build and now they are going for hockey’s ultimate prize.  Highlighted by Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, this group of very talented young stars are going to be the favorites for the foreseeable NHL future.

It’s just too bad we have to wait until the end to share this greatness on a major television network in the US.
