This is where hockey separates itself from the rest…a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat triple overtime game that would have won it for the Detroit Red Wings had the Pittsburgh Penguins not scored to keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive.
You can’t help but love watching teams truly battling for every puck, every possession and every shot. When a player winds up, or the puck gets loose near the goal, the stadium gasps and cheers. But, this time the wind was let out of the hopeful Red Wings fans as they watched Petr Sykora score 10 minutes into the third OT on a power play to give his team a 4-3 win.
The goal also sends the series back to Pittsburgh where the Pens are almost unbeatable lately. Though, none of the thrills would have happened if Maxime Talbot did not score with 34 seconds to play in regulation.
What a game and what a series this has been.
