In the middle of the night, and in the midst of a two-game wining streak, the Mets fired manager Willie Randolph along with pitching coach Rick Peterson and first base coach Tom Nieto. Hired in the interim was coach Jerry Manuel.
It is tough when a good manager gets the ax because his stars are underachieving but that is sports. The Mets need a bullpen and to rid themselves of Carlos Delgado…that is what will help the club not firing the manager. But, in sports, the top guy always pays the price.
With the move, can the Mets turn it around? Not without a bullpen.
