Derrick Rose was tapped as the first pick by the Chicago Bulls and should help bring together a young, talented team with his leadership. Michael Beasley was Miami’s choice and OJ Mayo was picked third by Minnesota.
Of the three, Beasley looks to be the best overall player and could have the biggest impact on the Heat…especially if Dwayne Wade can play most of the season.
The New York Knicks picked Italian Danilo Gallinari, a 6′ 9″ power forward that has the ability to play in new head coach Mike D’Antoni’s up-tempo style…though the Knicks have not had the best of luck with European draft picks…Frederic Weis.
Other draft day news…
- Nets traded Richard Jefferson to the Bucks for Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons
- Pacers traded Jermaine O’Neal to the Raptors for TJ Ford, Rasho Nesterovic and the #17 pick (Roy Hibbert)
