The Giants started the NFL season as they ended the last, with a win.
Big Blue beat rival Washington Redskins 16-7 in the NFL season opener at Giants Stadium. The game was not much of a contest as the defending champions jumped out to a 16-0 lead before the ‘Skins scored a touchdown in the closing seconds of the first half. The Giants rode their defense who held Washington to 133 passing yards and 84 rushing yards. The Giants D was impressive as was Brandon Jacobs’ 116 yards on the ground on 21 attempts.
