Tim Wakefield was roughed up in just under three innings for five runs on six hits as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Red Sox 13-4 to take a 3-1 series lead. The killer, though, was a five run sixth inning by the Rays off the arm of Manny Delcarmen, who gave up all five runs in a third of an inning on two hits and three walks.
Rays starter Andy Sonnanstine pitched seven and a third innings, giving up four runs on six hits, before getting scoreless relief from Trever Miller and Edwin Jackson. The Rays hit three home runs off Wakefield from Evan Longoria (rookie record 5th of the post-season), Carlos Pena and Willy Ayba.
