The NHL Eastern Conference had a major power shift on the first day of free agency. The Buffalo Sabres, President Cup winners and one of the best teams since the lock out, lost their two major cogs - co-captains Chris Drury and Daniel Briere - to conference foes Rangers and Flyers.
